— Research & Transformative Innovations

Re-imagining the world

You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end each of us must work for his own improvement, and at the same time share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful.

What are Transformative Innovations?

According to the University of Vienna, Transformative Innovations are those that contribute to desired states or outcomes of a systematic configuration, specially in the socio-ecological landscape. They are feasible within planetary, as well as social boundaries and leverage the well-being of the different stakeholders at multiple levels of the system at hand.

Reasons to develop Transformative Innovations

These are a holistic approach to current world-systemic problems. This means they take into account not only the different stakeholders, but also the intricate relationships between and within them, making sure that the view of the stakeholders is inclusive beyond human-systems.

The approach of Transformative or Disruptive Innovations call for becoming aware of the underlying needs of the multiple systems involved (eco-systems, social systems and individuals), so that a clever plan for a regenerative and longer-term benefit can be designed with an overarching view of all the parts involved.

How may we create Transformative Innovations?

Transformative Innovations need to be designed with a holistic mindset. For this reason I offer Consultation Services (ideation through design thinking methodologies, as well as product and process assessment) and Research & Development Support (product and process design and development) during different stages of a project’s development. The offered support ranges from level 1 to 5 of the NASA’s Technological Readiness Level „TRL“ Scala and includes components of the following areas:

Circular Economy, Bio-Economy & Upcycling
Hierarchical Natural Systems and Materials
Biopolymers & Biomaterials
Biofabrication & Biotechnological Product Development
Process Engineering & Material Sciences
Hierarchical Socio-Ecological Processes
Regenerative Development
